Founded in San Francisco in 1996 by master Cuban percussionist and dancer Roberto Borrell and violinist, composer and arranger Tregar Otton, Orquesta La Moderna Tradición has spent 30 years thrilling dancers and concert audiences with a sound both deeply rooted and unmistakably alive.

Violins and woodwinds weave through driving Afro-Cuban rhythms in the classic charanga tradition, while original compositions and timba-infused arrangements give the orchestra a contemporary edge. A performance can move effortlessly from the stately beauty of danzón to the buoyant pulse of cha-cha-chá and the full force of modern Cuban dance music.

Led by Tregar Otton and internationally respected percussionist and educator Michael Spiro, the ensemble has performed across the United States and internationally. Its repertoire combines original music with Cuban classics, equally at home in a seated concert, festival setting or dance hall.

Doors open 7:00 PM, shows start promptly, please arrive on time.
Please note:

• Refreshments will be served before the show and through the end of intermission and can be consumed inside the hall. Refreshments are not served after intermission. Please return bottles, cups, and cans to the refreshment window before returning to your seat.
• Per our ABC licensing requirements alcohol must be always kept inside the hall. No outside wine and beer are allowed.
• We have increased our hall ventilation. Dress warmly on a cold day.
