Harlem-born, GRAMMY-honored singer/songwriter/educator Clif Payne is as much a genre-blending vocal master as he is a seasoned performing artist. In a career spanning several decades, he’s performed with Bobby McFerrin, Sheena Easton, former Chicago vocalist Bill Champlin and has opened in concert for Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis and Dionne Warwick. His duet, “No Payne, No Gain” recorded with Freda Payne, charted at #1 on Great Britain’s Soul/R&B charts in 2018.
Clif will be performing songs from Stevie Wonder’s iconic album Songs in the Key of Life with reimagined arrangements by pianist/music director Frank Martin (Billy Joel, Sting). The trio backing Clif will include Frank Martin, with Daniel Fabricant (Liza Minnelli, Michael Feinstein) on bass, and David Rokeach (Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls) on drums.
Songs In The Key of Life represents the peak of Stevie’s artistry. Clif’s show is an expanded version of Clif’s sold-out show that premiered at the Community Music Center of San Francisco in 2024.
Dancing will be irresistible!
