Come and enjoy this selection of material from the pen of Robert Burns and hear such songs as ‘My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose’. This song was recorded on Peter’s latest album ‘The Sands of Life’ and is responsible for giving me the albums title. A beautiful line in the song says ‘and I will love you still my dear, while the sands of life shall run’. Other songs of Burns that will be performed will be are ‘A Man’s a Man’ and ‘McPhersons Rant’ a true story of a Scottish hero who robbed the rich, to give to the poor. Also, ’Ye Jacobites’ a song in support of the Jacobean cause. Original songs and tunes will also be heard, including, ‘The Welder and The Plater’ a song inspired by Peter’s father who worked in the shipyards on the River Clyde in Glasgow. Peter will also sing an a cappella song called ‘I Wish I Was in Glasgow,’ a song written by Scottish actor/comedian Billy Connelly. The song garnered me a nomination in the twelfth annual IMA awards an online International awards show covering six continents. Peter Daldry placed third in the a capella category!
Appearing with Peter will be his good friend and percussionist Russ Bennett. Russ has a varied musical background starting by playing drums in a classic rock band playing for the armed forces at several different bases overseas. He has also turned his hand to Latin rhythms. He became interested in the Irish Bodhran ( goatskin drum ) while attending local music sessions in his hometown of Santa Cruz CA. Russ has performed with Peter for the past two years, having played the Big Trees Scottish Festival in Santa Cruz as well as one of the biggest games on the west coast, the Caledonian Club Scottish Games and Gathering in Pleasanton CA.
