Wild Women of Song –
Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era
Saturday, June 7, 2025
7:30 PM
Pamela Rose will bring an all-star band in a celebration of great women songwriters of jazz and blues.
Rose is thrilled to bring this work – which debuted in 2011 and toured internationally for 6 years – back to the stage. Called “a swinging honors course in womankind” by San Francisco magazine, “Wild Women of Song” is a captivating showpiece celebrating the lives, times and music of the often-invisible women songwriters of the Great American Songbook.
This led to Pamela Rose writing a book on the subject (Wild Women of Song), creating her still-touring work Blues is a Woman, and made her an in-demand lecturer on the subject of notable women in music.
Jazz and blues vocalist Rose will be backed by a phenomenal band: Kristen Strom (sax, vocals), Daria Johnson (drums, vocals), Ruth Davies (bass) and John R. Burr on piano.
Hailed as “Pure entertainment, with rapturous storytelling and a thrilling concert” by the San Francisco Chronicle – this program will appeal to all ages. Artfully combining historical background with great arrangements, Rose takes the audience on a journey from the earliest days of Tin Pan Alley, early Blues, BeBop and Hollywood.
