Hot Bluegrass, Cool Originals

Kathy has won a Grammy and two IBMA Awards, received a Lifetime Membership from the California Bluegrass Association, co-founded the internationally-acclaimed Good Ol’ Persons, appeared on three high-profile Rounder collections of bluegrass songs by women, written and recorded award-winning music for children and families, and toured the world.

The Kathy Kallick Band has nearly as much fun as the audience when performing. The songs and tunes featured in their show, include favorites from the Good Ol’ Persons and early KKB releases, gems from the bluegrass/old time/country music repertoire, selections from IBMA’s Emerging Artist Of the year Annie Staninec’s solo release, and and more than a few surprises.

The Kathy Kallick Band is based along the west coast — Kathy (guitar) and Tom Bekeny (mandolin) are from the SF Bay Area, Annie Staninec (fiddle) is from from Portland, Cary Black (acoustic bass) from Seattle, and Greg Booth (dobro & banjo) from Anchorage — but their powerful mixture of original and classic material, mirroring their distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary sensibilities, has great appeal everywhere.

“This is a top-notch band led by a woman with the warmest, richest voice in our music today.”
